Mr. Santi RATANA-ANUPAP บทคัดย่อ              In the compact layer, the pore diameters were generally less than 300 m and they were not interconnected; related distribution pattern was geferic and enaulic. In the slots, pore surface seemed twice as large with much larger pores (up to 2000?m) usually interconnected; related distribution pattern was also gefenic and enaulic. Compare to compact layer, the pore surface in the slot was increased by 80%. This increase was mainly due to large pores that did not exist in the compact layer; they represented a third of the total slot pore surface. Crushing of soil in the slot produced a few continuous large pores able to become root channels. This is consistent with the improved root development observed in the field.
